The full armor of God is yours
to do with as you choose
it offers complete protection
from satan’s wrath to bruise

for when one part is not adorned
the others cannot shield
satanic probes that beat you down
have evil power to wield

for through cunning shrewdness and stealth
powerfully effective
the devil finds success through flaws
of equipment defective

a helmet here a breastplate there
a rusty sword unused
a shield of doubt and feet so bare
it’s how it’s all misused

when truth becomes a compromise
the enemy sweeps in
and the bearer of this armor
stands charged with flagrant sin

but if you want that protection
from all the strength of hell
it’s yours to use as God proscribes
to fend and then repel

standing always in victory
that glory be to God
when saints arrayed in full armor
take ground where they should trod
